Ian Butler began writing in 2008 after moving to County Fermanagh. He has over twenty years experience in social work, including working with high-risk adolescents. Previous to this he travelled extensively across Europe and The Americas.
Interested in fiction, non-fiction as well as polemical pieces from a left of centre, environmental perspective, Ian is developing novels, plays and screenplays. His first screenplay was short-listed for NI Screen’s Primetime award and he has just signed a publishing contract which will see his first novel, Burger Bar Dad, published in 2012.
Ian has had work published in the local Fermanagh papers, various professional journals and on the BBC website and other on line resources. Formally Chair of the Fermanagh Creative Writing Group, Ian has been instrumental in helping it reach a prominent position in the cultural life of the County.
Although somewhat incapacitated by his stroke, he is still able to travel, and is a keen photographer.
